Currently running bbasil2012's version (SSLAC16 v0.36rev0 compiled on May 26 2016 09:51:34) and was keen on disabling the softAP as you have done in your fork.

I do not have a IDE installed.

Could you suggest if I can update my install with your work via the web UI and if so how?

You can not update your current installation using web UI. You need to flash your device with binary file or using Arduino IDE.
