Thanks for the patch. However, I don't want to add an additional widget as this 
fills the list of widgets on older android devices.

One way to overcome this would be to add this widget as a plugin.

I don't think it's worth creating another app just to add a widget. Also I 
don't think many people aside from me will use that widget (because you can 
resize the standard widget to 1 square), so I'll just keep it private then.
BTW the discontinued Google Reader had as much as 3 widgets.
