prep-ext-kit.sh is part of firmware but it must be modified because contains some broken links

If you want use USB Modem like WAN than you must use NOT external kit firmware version.

external kit version not contain USB modem drivers. USB modem drivers on external kit version in webkit file.

I'm tethering Android Phone as connection. it work flawlessly on asus stock firmware before. as mentioned in the thread https://www.snbforums.com/threads/issue-usb-tethering-not-working.63522/ this is well known problem

In my opinion, phone by USB – bad idea. router USB port not provide enough power for stable work this kind of devices.

exist Y cable where “one hand” only data contacts(without +5V), “other hand” only +5V for power – try it
