Does Android Faker spoof IMEI for apps or will cell towers will see my new IMEI number?

And was wondering if I changed my IMEI number using this app, would the cell tower see my spoofed IMEI number? Or is it just for apps to trick them into thinking you are using spoofed IMEI number?

I think it's just an app not for cell towers

@firmantsani Right I see thanks, do you know any other apps that can spoof IMEI number for cell towers?

@firmantsani What about this comment, he claims it would sometimes work?

@Raj2032 Hey. The other guy doesn't claim that you can only change your IMEI number, only that he has some problems. Your calls and cellular internet access is handled by the modem of your phone / modem of the SoC, no application can change it. Only AT commands can modify the IMEI number which is impossible on 99% of the commercial devices (Before you ask no, I am not going to give any recommendations. Don't do it)

Edit: The other guy is probably trying to spoof the identifiers for a system application and the phone gets confused somehow, but their phone's actual IMEI is definitely not changing. If he believes that he actually spoofed his IMEI towards the cell carrier then he is simply dumb though.
