The IPAC update.

All changes in the dev version over the last 6 months have been merged into the master branch and the repository has now been made public.

The main changes include:

• Python 3 is now required (version 3.5 recommended).
• Added 3D visualizer (still in early development).
  • 2D fields can also be rendered in 3D by assuming cylindrical symmetry.
  • Opacity and colors can be changed in real time.
  • Custom controls for opacity tuning.
  • Created colormaps for 3D volumetric visualization.
  • Dedicated window for creating animations (only frames for the moment).
  • Included custom QVTKRenderWindowInteractor class for compatibility with pyqt5.
• New particle tracker.
  • New interface.
  • Particles can now be searched by defining a range of parameters.
  • 2D plots of all the tracked particles at any time step can be made.
  • Improved performance of particle tracking algorithms.
• Introduced new types of data (FolderDataElements, CustomDataElements, SelfContainedDataElements).
• Custom fields and variables (calculated from the simulation data) are now supported.
• New movie creator, now .mp4 videos can be made (requires FFmpeg).
• Updated data readers with more features.
• Unit conversion is now simpler and easier to implement for new codes.
• Laser field can now be overlaid to charge density fields.
• Support for high-DPI displays.
  • Added custom Matplotlib backend for high resolution icons.
• New way of selecting the simulation code.
• Added splash screen with progress bar.
• Added "About" window.
• Several bug fixes, but this cannot yet be considered as a "Stable" release.
• Lots of other additions and improvements.
• Updated class diagrams and documentation (still in process).
• Added .spec file to create .exe standalone packages for Windows with pyinstaller.
