Fix CI testing #91

I retrieved the old data manager that was working with pure json and used it as a mock for the actual data manager that connects to a DB.

In the way, found a small issue regarding some incorrect initial values and also removed some unused code

Closes #90

I want to do some more testing regarding these CI issues, because I think I may have messed up with the repository environment variables and that could have been the cause of the problem, but for now this should work
