The config files certainly need a lot of pruning and the number of them could be reduced. But be careful when looking at Poky, it makes some choices that make actually maintaining the runtime part of the distro very hard!
Hi @koenkooi and @kraj,
In my early days working with the Yocto Project, I used the Angstrom distribution. After several years away from it, I became curious about how the project has evolved, so I decided to clone it and explore its current state. While going through the distro, I noticed that it contains a large number of include files, which left me somewhat confused. To get a better understanding, I started comparing Angstrom with other well-known distros like Poky and OEL (from OSSystems).
This got me thinking: what if I could rework Angstrom by drawing inspiration from these distros? My idea would be to streamline the layer, making it more minimalistic. The goal would be to offer a clean, simplified reference layer that others could use as a base for their own personal projects. What do you think about this approach?
