rough description of what should actually happen

center the canvas in the div, both vertically and horizontally
if the aspect ratio of the div is taller than the game's aspect ratio, width:100%. otherwise, height:100%.

Still not vertically centered but ATM I think it's Good Enough(tm) fixed in v2.0
