possible additions to documentations - perhaps in a troubleshooting section #90

hi aaron, manuela schoenenberger reports two hickups working with annotald.

  1. the extension .psd is treated by default as indicating a Photoshop file.

  2. beyond around 40K words, annotald apparently processes files so slowly as to be essentially unusable.

these aren't bugs properly speaking, but i was wondering whether there could be a troubleshooting section devoted to this type of issues. apologies if the two issues are already covered in the documentation. perhaps they could then be moved?

thanks.

Hi Beatrice,

I can certainly add a troubleshooting section to the documentation with these issues in them. I'm not sure when this will happen, but now that it has been brought to my attention it eventually will.

As a linux user I have never been troubled by the psd=photoshop issue, but I understand that it might trouble Mac users (and windows users, but no one should use windows). It's not something that I can fix. On the other hand, if you and Tony changed the file extension you use for distributing the corpus files the issue would be ameliorated. Is this something you would consider? (I have meant to mention this since forever, but I never did precisely because it's such a low priority issue in my world).

not a problem - not a high-priority issue, and certainly not something that’s your responsibility.

the best fix is perhaps changing the extension, as you suggest.
