The "Device Capabilities" field reports misleading information for disconnected devices #1076

Open ferrarimarco opened 3 years ago

Device Model/Firmware: DGA4130, AGTEF_2.2.1 GUI Version: v9.6.65

Please go to Cards >> GUI Settings >> Debug Report and press the Generate button. Attach the debug file here: N/A (will attach later if needed)

Description of problem, HOW TO REPRODUCE, Media/Photos:

  1. Open the Wireless device monitor.
  2. Start monitoring a connected client.
  3. Disconnect the client you're monitoring from the wifi network.
  4. Observe the Device Capabilities field report 802.11ac 2x2 40MHz 80MHz SGI20 SGI40 SGI80... (see attachment)

Expected: the Device Capabilities field should either report the "last observed" capabilities for disconnected clients (preferred?), or it should be empty.

I discovered this issue while troubleshooting connection issues with a client.

why do you say that it is misleading ? I couldn't find anything 'misleading' on my disconnected devices, be it 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.

Also, note, the capabilities for 5Ghz differ from those on 2.4Ghz

I think I understand. You are suggesting that if the device is abruptly disconnected while monitoring then the Device Capabilities should be blank instead of showing the last known list (isn't showing the last known for you? please provide screenshot for both connected and disconnected).

I disagree on that:

Thanks for following up @Dark4Codrutz !

Here's a screenshot of the very same device before the disconnection. The information reported after the disconnection are different, and not the last known.
