report any error you are having, does the ISP provide for you SIP credentials ? are you trying to use the phone via di FXS port ?
dead air when i pick up and listen in on the handset. ISP does provide SIP credentials EXCEPT for password for some reason I tried phoning customer support and they said that a home phone will only work with the tp-link router they give to customers. I had the phone plugged into the green "phone" port
Check if this help, but i see no password catching here... you can also try asking on the hack-technicolor repo https://hack-technicolor.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Unlock/#voip-setup

my ISP does not provide me with my SIP credentials I'm afraid, even tho I asked them multiple times. I asked them for the password and they kept saying "just use the tp-link router we gave you, it will automatically authenticate for you". Indeed it does, however Ive scoured inside my tp-link settings but as yet have not been able to find telephony/voip settings. Below is the hardware/firmware settings page from my router Firmware Version: 0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 190228 Rel.72265n Hardware Version: Archer VR1600v v2 00000000
and no I dont believe Im using the phone via the FXS port. Im using it via the green port I showed in my previous post. I unlocked voip via the commands featured on the: telstra gateway hacking website. I can screenshot and upload my current voip settings if you wish. The password I used is just my ISP account login password (Im guessing thats wrong tho). Update: found this while randomly trawling TPG's forums: Unfortunately, the company has made a business decision to not make the VOIP settings available for 3rd party routers welp. I guess that answers that. What a load of crap.
I think you should try to sniff the ACS provisioning of the router they give you unless there is an hacky way to get the provisioned credentials directly from the tp-link

I found this which made me hopeful momentarily but I tried it and it didn't work (I dont believe its for my router) even if it was you have to buy some stuff as well apparently which I was hoping to avoid. In terms of hacking the credentials, I wouldn't have a clue where to even start. Its very unfortunate and annoying indeed. If someone could give me instructions I could give it a go no doubt, but short of that, I'd probably just have to threaten my ISP to hand over the details.
why is this an nginx issue ?
why is this an nginx issue ? Honestly I thought it was to begin with, but after having done a bit more research it's probably not an nginx issue. Feel free to close this thread if you want. If theres anyone out there who are with either TPG or iinet as their provider, could they be in touch and let me know how they got their home phone working. Thanks.
Device Model: Telstra - Smart Modem (Gen2) GUI Version 9.4.70-184d06d3
Description of problem: Ive put in all settings and apparently there is just no way to get iiNet home netphone to work with the router.
How to reproduce (if possible): Plug in non Telstra home phone, try inputting all relevant settings and see if you can make calls.
Media/Photos (if possible): https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/General_NBN_HFC_modem_setup_advice
So far this firmware was great for me. It actually allowed me to directly plug into the arris modem and get internet connection (where I couldn't before). But without the ability to make home phone calls its essentially useless. sad face ☹
