Payback screen is always landscape in 1.6.5 #2699

Today, while in the add podcast (recovering after the database loss I also reported) I clicked the bottom bar to go to the playback screen. I was surprised to see that even if the phone was in portrait mode, the playback screen was always in landscape mode in a sort of visualisation mode. The recovery wad only possible after closing the application and going through the queue screen.

in a sort of visualisation mode

What do you mean with that? Could you please add a screenshot? I can not reproduce the issue.

If I understand correctly, you are complaining that a video podcast is played in landscape mode. That is intended. This is how you are supposed to watch videos ;)

No, unfortunately I can't anymore and I wasn't inspired enough to take a screen shot. After the workaround I couldn't go back to that mode. The display was looking like a vu-meter similar to this but with the title of the episode on the screen:

Note that I wasn't looking at any videos since I have no video podcasts, I only use audio.

Yes.

Strange. That's definetely not a feature of AntennaPod. Probably it is embedded in the feed's media somehow. Could you please send me the exact feed url you are using? You can copy the url when pressing the info icon on the episodes list of that feed.

I feel stupid now. It seems I selected the hd variant of the feed. 😐

I think I did that accidentally.

The audio feed doesn't have the issue. The only way to blame you for my mistake is the database loss 🙄

Hi Eddy, Opening that feed you copied here, I can see that each RSS item has an .mp4 file 'embedded', which is a video format. It seems you're subscribed to the video feed… (even though the only image in this video is indeed the visualiser) Please try subscribing to their mp3 feed (which doesn't create such moving image): http://linuxactionnews.com/rss ('Open with… AntennaPod) If changing feed helped you, please close the ticket. If not, please let us know what steps you took to try solve the issue. Thanks for reaching out!

ByteHamster commented 6 years ago

Aaah, now we know what's happening ;) The feed you are using is actually a video feed. AntennaPod can play video podcasts without actually displaying the video (if you press play from the queue), but if you press the miniplayer on the bottom of the screen, the video will be shown. Looks like you have listened to a video feed without noticing.

If you add the podcast url http://linuxactionnews.com/rss instead, you get an audio only feed. The audio feed seems to contain the same episodes (at least the beginning of episode 45 is the same). What's probably nice to hear is that the audio files have a size of 15-20MB while the video files you are currently subscribed to have sizes of about 200-500MB.

Ah, I see you just realised also. Glad it's sorted! Thanks for closing the ticket ;)
