App version

2.7.0

Where did you get the app from

Google Play

Problem you may be having, or feature you want

First thinks first: the app is awesome!! And the new inbox feature, too :-).

The only thing I'm missing:

A filter im the Inbox for TAGS of the podcasts.

I assigned tags to all of my podcasts (about 50) . I have some "everyday hear" podcasts and some nice to have (checked "only sometimes"). So I would like to display the "everyday hear" tagged podcast episodes in the inbox only and skip the "only sometimes".

So adding the tags to the filter feature of the inbox would be great.

Suggested solution

Adding the tags to the filter feature of the inbox.

Hi @Improver2000,

Thanks for chipping in. This effectively is a duplicate of #6054, so I'll close this ticket and slightly update the title of the other one.

@keunes Did you accidentally cite the wrong issue? #6054 doesn't seem to be a duplicate of what's requested here.

Hi @alphapapa No, it's not a mistake. The use case that was requested to be supported is this:

display the "everyday hear" tagged podcast episodes in the inbox only and skip the "only sometimes"

When we implement the other one, that can be used to achieve the same thing (certain episodes don't show up). Moreover, we now have the 'New episode action' setting at podcast level, which allows to keep whole podcasts out of the inbox.

@keunes Okay, may I suggest then to retitle #6054? What I came to the tracker looking for was an issue like "Filter episode lists by podcast tag", and its current title, "Automatically remove episodes from Inbox/mark as ignored based on Episode filter", doesn't seem remotely connected to that, but you seem to be saying that, if it were implemented, it would provide such functionality.

OTOH, https://github.com/AntennaPod/AntennaPod/issues/5222 seems to be more like what I'm hoping for, as it's titled "view episodes screen per tag". But it is now locked and cannot be commented nor voted on, which seems strange, as it would seem to make it more difficult for interested users to talk about contributing to solving the issue.

On top of that, the forum thread linked there, https://forum.antennapod.org/t/delete-all-episodes-with-same-tag-from-inbox-e-g-news-that-became-old/2467/5, has been "automatically closed 20 days after the last reply. New replies are no longer allowed." 20 days seems like a very short time for a FOSS project that has been around for a long time and whose feature requests sometimes take a few years to implement.

Generally I find that closing issues and discussions prematurely does more harm than good. Projects like Debian and Emacs, which are many times larger and older, leave issues open as long as they remain relevant, which helps keep discussion under the relevant issue rather than forcing users to make duplicates--which then get closed as duplicates of locked issues...
