gutenprint package #350

idea to add gutenprint package to be preinstalled?

We removed gutenprint because some users reported that it prevented them from being able to set up their printers. Are you saying that you actually need it before you can successfully set up your printer?

Yes. My canon mg2500 series dont work without gutenprint.

@lots0logs I do not know what to do with this. As you said, some users have problems if this is installed, and some others like @prescott66 have if it is not.

What do we do?

I was going to ask you the same question. I guess we could check to see if there is a printer currently connected and if so find its brand. If its Canon we install the package and if its HP we don't. Though, honestly, I don't know how effective that would be since most people probably don't hook their printers up directly to their systems these days. :question:

Doesn't HP want hplip?

maybe simple fix: make two switches for printers: HP and Canon and make that both of them cant be enabled.
