To be honest I don't think this is a "common" user request... If you understand partitions enough, it's better to use "advanced" installation. There you'll be able to tell cnchi where you want to put your /home partition.
Bear in mind that "automatic" is only for novice users that don't have a clue how partitions work.

I don't necessarily disagree with your comments but I think this setup is common enough nowadays to be taken into consideration.
OK... I'll add to our TODO list... but honestly, don't hold your breath, there are a lot of more pressing issues on that list.
I didn't mean for this to be included straight away, I just wanted to log it in case it ever gets looked at. No rush.
Right now when ticking the box for a separate home partition, Cnchi puts it on the same drive it is formatting for the root partition.
When using for example an SSD with a HDD, one might want to use the SSD for root and the HDD for home.
