ZFS: Only GRUB2 available in drop-down menu - implement systemd boot? #828

Problem:

Hi,

This may be more of a feature request than a bug report - only GRUB2 is listed in the drop-down menu when electing to install Antergos on ZFS in the Cnchi installer

In addition to systemd bootloader being a beneficial option for many reasons, one stand-out argument is that there is a very interesting program in the AUR which can allow booting from ZFS snapshots:

https://github.com/dasJ/sd-zfs

"This project is an attempt to allow using systemd in the initrd and also having a ZFS dataset as root . . . sd-zfs supports booting from ZFSsnapshots"

I have not tested this software yet, but I believe from the description, it may require a separate dataset for the root installation, e.g. zpool/root as opposed to just zpool.

Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Elect to use ZFS for installation
  2. Next menu - grub is the only option available for bootloader
  3. that's it!

Log Files

No log files necessary, just look at ZFS installer menu

Additional Notes:

Implementing systemd boot for ZFS installations (and perhaps adding sd-zfs to the Antergos repo) would further differentiate Antergos as the go-to Linux distro for ZFS enthusiasts (!)

I'm going to try and install sd-zfs and see if I can get this boot from snapshot functionality to work ... wish me luck ...

Edit: finally got UEFI working on my KVM server (was stuck in secure boot mode) -- attempt #1: https://paste2.org/twZpxBsd
