vguttmann commented 3 years ago

I can do german, I'm a native speaker. Is anyone already doing that?

vguttmann commented 3 years ago

Also, the link which I think is supposed to link to the files gives me a 404, the correct link would be https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox/tree/master/share/antimicrox/translations (you had the "X" capitalized in the repo name).

And you are naming german twice in your list. Is there a deeper meaning to this?

pktiuk commented 3 years ago

Hi @vguttmann, We don't have any ongoing updates in translations right now.

It seems we have bugs even in our issues. :wink:
Mentioning German twice was unintentional. I have also updated link to translations.

Simao-Santos commented 3 years ago

Portuguese isn't there yet, but since there is a major update on translations I can add the portuguese one :wink:

Simao-Santos commented 3 years ago

Also, just a suggestion, you could try contacting the people that translated in the first place, if there is a language no one can translate to, for example.

vguttmann commented 3 years ago

Well, after some inital troubles setting up my build env, I got it working, and I'll just keep the german translation up-to-date.

vguttmann commented 3 years ago

Also, the wiki for translation needs to be updated. in the first step, the last cd .. needs to be removed, and in the 2nd step, lupdate src/ -ts share/antimicro/translations/antimicro_zh_CN.ts needs to be replaced by lupdate src/ -ts build/share/antimicrox/translations/antimicrox_zh_CN.ts, and in the 4th step, lrelease share/antimicro/translations/antimicro_zh_CN.ts -qm build/share/antimicro/translation/antimicro_zh_CN.qm needs to be replaced by lrelease share/antimicrox/translations/antimicrox_zh_CN.ts -qm build/share/antimicrox/translations/antimicrox_zh_CN.qm. In the fifth step, build/bin/antimicro needs to become build/bin/antimicrox. in the sixth step, lupdate src/ -ts share/antimicro/translations/antimicro_zh_CN.ts -no-obsolete needs to become lupdate src/ -ts share/antimicrox/translations/antimicrox_zh_CN.ts -no-obsolete.

pktiuk commented 3 years ago

Description will be updated during migration of data from old wiki.

pktiuk commented 3 years ago

Also, just a suggestion, you could try contacting the people that translated in the first place

It may be a good idea to ping old translators, but I also think, we shouldn't bother them only because they have contributed to one project one (or two) years ago.

heidiwenger commented 2 years ago

I want to help. Finnish isn't there yet, on update on translations, Finnish could be added i assume.

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

@heidiwenger I will soon create file with Finnish translation, meanwhile you can download QT Linguist and read instructions from wiki

OK thanks! I am so new to this Github thing anyway and have no clue on where to start, i tried reading through the complex https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox/wiki/Translating-AntiMicroX

But am still overwhelmed on how to get translating. So these commands lack something i assume, and gotta find out more what: (something to do with cloning things?)

mkdir build cd build cmake .. make cd ..

Well: i'll just download this QT Linguist first then :) maybe things fall in line from there.

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

To put it simply, just download QT linguist for now and check its manual.
Are you familiar with git? Do you know how to submit Pull Request? ( it is not a problem if not)

I am not familiar with git, and i gotta say: i do not know how to even install QT Linguist now. I am on Solus, and it is not in the repositories and there are only Windows .exe here: https://download.qt.io/linguist_releases/

heidiwenger commented 2 years ago

Oh, i now see QT Linguist might be part of this entity if QT Creator. I'll try to install that, then.

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

You have to translate this file using QT Linguist and just send it back to me When you will be done. :)
(I changed .ts to .ts.txt, because GitHub did not accept uploading it)

antimicrox_fi.ts.txt

antimicrox_fi.ts.txt

Thanks a bunch! Well, now i just have to figure out how to install that QT Linguist.... QT Creator did not have anything to that sadly.

antimicrox_fi.ts.txt

Ok i found something in QT Creator through Tools -> External -> Linguist

Then i opened your file, but it looks like a mess kind of? Here, let me put on a snippet of it (this won't let me upload a screenshot):

"

Left Stick Click
<message>
    <location filename="../../../src/gui/gamecontrollermappingdialog.ui" line="187"/>
    <source>Right Stick Click</source>
    <translation type="unfinished"></translation>
</message>
<message>
    <location filename="../../../src/gui/gamecontrollermappingdialog.ui" line="192"/>
    <source>Left Stick X</source>
    <translation type="unfinished"></translation>
</message>

    <source>Left Stick Y</source>

    <location filename="../../../src/gui/gamecontrollermappingdialog.ui" line="202"/>
    <source>Right Stick X</source>

<message>"

(OK it does not let me put any code here)

Ok now it let me upload a screenshot. Does this look right as of working state of the file opened? If so, where do i put the translations always to? The "unfinished" parts?

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

obraz

It should look like this tommorow I will have time for checking what is wrong in your case.

heidiwenger commented 2 years ago

Screenshot from 2022-01-09 02-45-30 So indeed the work can now start! Thank you much for your patience and kindness. Who knows where we might still run into :-)

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

I found an interesting website which could help with translation. It is called Weblate.
I will check it out.
It is used by https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

I configured it to work with this repo.

You can test it here: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/antimicrox/

Could you tell me what do you think about it?

comradekingu commented 2 years ago

@pktiuk Change the license to GPLv3-or-later (as opposed to -only) in https://hosted.weblate.org/settings/antimicrox/gui/ https://hosted.weblate.org/settings/antimicrox/glossary as per https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox/search?q=any+later :)

YES! Please put Weblate (or Transifex or Crowdin, they similar) to practice as soon as possible... I can't advance in the translation due the cumbersomeness of it's technical way of the moment :/

Huh these are giving me "page not found" (???) Edit: i mean the supposedly created Weblate is giving that. Where is the project now? My oh my

comradekingu commented 2 years ago

@heidienger Only available to admins of the AntiMicroX project on Hosted Weblate. The project is locked now, but https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/antimicrox/ should work. Crowdin and Transifex have bad usability, and sell your data.

Oh ok, but the "Start new translation" (button) does not work? And the other page (https://hosted.weblate.org/new-lang/antimicrox/gui/) gives "[Permission Denied] Insufficient privileges to display this page."

Now what?

comradekingu commented 2 years ago

@heidiwenger Currently the Weblate project isn't set up correctly, but it will be unlocked once that is fixed. @pktiuk I can help if you add "kingu" in https://hosted.weblate.org/access/antimicrox/#users :)

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

I unlocked this and added Finnish based on file from @heidiwenger .

Everything should work now

AHOHNMYC commented 2 years ago

@pktiuk hello! I am trying to translate AntiMicroX and getting strange results. Some strings are non-translatable, others doubles and triples over translation, and some strings that have to be read-only (like keys or language names) are fills about ⅓ of all strings. Can we do something with this? ^^

i

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

@AHOHNMYC
image

In my case these strings are labelled Source in review

It seems, that they have to be translated to English in Source strings.

image

I don't know why we have to do this. I haven't found any discussion thread describing reasons behind this. https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate/discussions

pktiuk commented 2 years ago

@AHOHNMYC
I fixed this, it appeared to be a bit messed up weblate configuration.
Now everything should be translatable.

AHOHNMYC commented 2 years ago

@pktiuk оh! Great news :) Big thank you from me, other translators and, obviously, users!
