Browsing Roms error. #9

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start browsing your roms collection bigger than 150 roms.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The list chops out and the last roms are never seen, I think it only
manages to see 150 or 160 roms, needs a bigger browsing.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest and last betas, all the same.

I chose a value large enough so that most users should have no problem with
this. I
know some people think it should be bigger, but I personally don't see the
problem.

I won't close this right away. If enough people voice their concerns about
this, I'll
give it a second thought.

Ok, or if you think it would be better, leave the browsing as random (how it
was in
the first version.
Or, you can even add a remember position to the browser as always returns to
the
first game when returning.
My solution for this problem is to actually have 2 folders with roms and just
rename
as necesary, and it works (but is kind of time waste to be renaming every time).

If you could increase the amount by 50 or so games then that would be
fantastic! :)

I don't think that increasing by 50 will solve the problem, someone else will
want
another 50 more and so on and so. I'm adding working games that I remember one
by one
so 150 isn't a problem for me yet, but I understand why people would want more.

Is it because it takes too much RAM to keep the list of all the games?

Would it be possible to generate a text file with the list of all the games on
startup, read in the first 150 and swap in/out the next 25 or 50 when you
scroll up
and down? you could even reduce it to 100 or even 50 at any one time in RAM
freeing
more to play the games. Just a suggestion.

why even put a value. why not put a "browse". This way people can have
rom/rom2/rom3 folder and put 150 in each and they can select browse the folder
they want to.

I want to see more. I get tired of swapping games out all the time.
Does the search feature even work?

This would be perfect!
