Describe your issue

Plugin setup seems to be correct : plugin vieramatic

...but TV is not connected to Homebridge, not present within accessories and in the log I see this message :

[14/12/2022, 17:27:57] [PanasonicVieraTV] please fill a bug at https://github.com/AntonioMeireles/homebridge-vieramatic/issues with data bellow

    "appId": "ATX2y7gn66uEAw==",
    "key": "WJJQmyll2DuVMJVrSPGNRg=="
  },

}

...this hpens after a couple of days of tests, uistallation of plugine, re-installation, added and removed TV more times. Binding procedure works fine : TV shows bindin code, I add in the plugin and the TV show message like "binding done".

In former days, first day of testing, I've seen also this : homebridge viera error

Issue Context

Please add the following items, when applicable:

  1. the homebridge logs, up from starting until the bug popped up there : homebridge.log.txt

  2. your homebridge's config.json contents : config.json.txt

  3. the contents of accessories/vieramatic.json (path is relative to homebridge's datadir) <don't know how to find and how to view/download to my pc>

  4. Details about your specific homebridge setup

    • hardware and arch : Raspberry PI ZERO
    • Operating System and its version : HOMEBRIDGE installation , Raspbian GNU/Linux Bullseye (11)
    • NodeJS version : v18.12.1
    • Homebridge version : 1.6.0
    • specific vieramatic version being used : homebridge-vieramatic v4.0.45
    • Viera TV(s) model(s) being used (and connectivity type being used - wired or wireless) : Panasonic VIERA TX-55GZ1500 connected by LAN cable.
  5. anything else you may find relevant : Panasonic TV Remote 3 app works fine after binding process, same process and result did during HB pluging config. Tryied by "resetting" TV remote connections also from TV menu.

Thanks, BR

(sorry lag)

quick question - your TV has a static IP address, right ? (i.e. no DHCP)

António

Kelev1978 commented 1 year ago

Hello Antonio,

yes, I've locked long time ago...it's always the same.

Do you think is something easy to fix? Is there a way?

Thanks,

BR

Thanks, BR!

Hi, (hope you had an Happy Christmas, and your familly!)

relative to the directory where on your PI is homebridge's config.json is also a directory (/acessories/) - i really need accessories/vieramatic.json contents. (my bet is that that they aren't there or file is empty).

You said you resetted connections list on TV's side. did you after thryed to repair the TV again (in homebridge side), by deleting TV's config in HB and forciong discovery again ?

Sorry again for the lag. let's see if we we finnally sort this out for real this week.

All the best

António

Hello Antonio

enclosed picture the content of /Accessories/ folder, if correct folder :no vieramatic.json there...

Concerning you sentence : "You said you resetted connections list on TV's side. did you after thryed to repair the TV again (in homebridge side), by deleting TV's config in HB and forciong discovery again ?" --> I run "discovery" but no TV automaticaly found , I've to put IP adress manually, see enclosed picture, is it relevant to understand something about the issue? Any port to be anabled or verified on my router?

Thanks!

BR!

Hi,

can you please give a shot at the just released homebridge-vieramatic@4.0.48 ? does it change anything on your side ?

Thanks yet again for your patience!

Kelev1978 commented 1 year ago

Hi, something different...but not successfull :

immagine

immagine

...no paring message and code shown on TV but :

immagine

Lat time I tried (relese 4.0.45 and 4.0.46) I was able to pair HB to TV...but I had the error described at the beginning. I've checked settings as suggested, as well as I did in the past, but no results. I tried to connect via wifi also (with ip 192.168.2.203) but same result. To add an info : TV is connected by ethernet cable but between router and TV there is a 5-ports switch...this should not be an issue due to the fact it's not working on wifi too...but only to inform.

Ping to TV is ok : immagine

Many thanks, BR

AntonioMeireles commented 1 year ago

Hi again,

can you check to see if the just releases homebridge-vieramatic@4.0.49 moves things forward ?

All the best and a great weekend!

Kelev1978 commented 1 year ago

Hello Antonio, Many thanks for support.

Just tried. Something better, no more errors but:

image

I input UP address , send ok , no errors, TV shows binding pin, I input pin, TV confirm correct binding but HB remains 20-30 sec here:

image

And than I see again this :

image

No TV added. No config added in the config file.

NOTE :

Thanks, BR

Kelev1978 commented 1 year ago

Hi, I'm sorry, I'm adding this instead of modify prev comment to avoid you already read it.

What above is related to a test done by smartphone... please ignore it.

Test done by pc allows correctc binding : TV is present in plugin configuration and in H config file.

But during restart :

Hello, any news concerning this issue? didn't tested last days, is there a new released version higher than 4.0.49?

Thanks, BR

AntonioMeireles commented 1 year ago

not yet. sorry. and next week will be mostly out of country :/

thanks for your patience!

Did this get resolved? I believe I am having the same issue with two 55' Panasonics here. Get the same kind of error messages. At one point I got it working with Viera-pair command and editing config.json, but nothing seems to work for me after the last upgrade. I get the same error message in the plugin ui config screen. And if I try Viera-pair now, I get this error message:

found a 'Panasonic VIErA' TV (TC-55FZ1000CTC-5) at '192.xxx.xxx.xxx' (requires crypto for communication).

Error: Unable to request pin code as the TV seems to be in standby; Please turn it ON!

Hi!

sorry the lag, and thanks for your patience.

i've not had much time latelly (due to work and family duties) to look at the plugin nor even to watch TV... fwiw it still works here. i've yet to find what set of conditions make it misbehave for some setups as afaict this is not a general issue.

OTOH all help / eyes / PRs are welcome helping mantaining / improving this plugin. Ideally we'd setup a live debug sprint somehow to watch the failure live, as i've done in the past to repro / fix other woes. Sadly atm i can're realistically commit to a schedule / timeframe for that for at least yet another month... :(

Thanks for your understanding. António

So I am/was running pi-hole here. Disabling it seemed to resolve at least some of my issues. I successfully reconnected to one of the tvs this evening. RSent from my iPhoneOn Mar 8, 2023, at 3:16 PM, António Meireles @.***> wrote: Hi! sorry the lag, and thanks for your patience. i've not had much time latelly (due to work and family duties) to look at the plugin nor even to watch TV... fwiw it still works here. i've yet to find what set of conditions make it misbehave for some setups as afaict this is not a general issue. @MackCreek

Hi && thanks for reporting back.

you got me way curious, because i'm not seeing at sight how using a pi-hole could onduce breakage to the plugin as we talk to the TV via it's IP address.

OTOH what may be happening is that for some reason the pi-hole (specially if in a low powered device say a low end pi also running homebridge) may be slowing things down enough that the probes the plugin does end timeouting. (if this is the issue i could probably make those dynamic and settable as a config setting but i'd need proof that this is indeed the hole where the rabbit is before hacking it (should be resaonably simpler))

Need to think about this

All the best and a great weekend

António

I’ve got two brand new Pi 4s. 4BG one runs homebridge in docker. 2GB runs Pi-Hole, MQTT broker and homebridge with a few plugins that don’t like docker - I was having so many problems trying to get the tv plug-in going that I moved it to the no docker machine. I’m in the midst of adding a 10 year old Mac mini as a server. Haven’t decided what I’m moving to where but I think I’m going to devote the Pi4 4gb to homebridge without docket. Then distribute the other things I’m playing around with between the mini and the 2GB pi4  Should have this done this weekend so I’ll let you know what I figure out, if anything… Sent from my iPhoneOn Mar 10, 2023, at 5:31 PM, António Meireles @.***> wrote: @MackCreek Hi && thanks for reporting back. you got me way curious, because i'm not seeing at sight how using a pi-hole could onduce breakage to the plugin as we talk to the TV via it's IP address. @Kelev1978

deeply sorry for the lag, been absolutely time constrained and with no time to look at this (even to watch some TV) lately :/

it's still on my queue. OTOH all help is appreciated - the project would benefit a lot of additional extra hands.

Thanks in advance for your patience

Hello Antonio, Hello All! long time past... Tested again today on homebridge-vieramatic v4.0.51 , Homebridge 1.6.1:

...and no config saved in the json for vieramatic plugin. I'll try to configure manually if I'll found a guide here or an example where to replace IP and name, something else.

Thanks. BR
