I have just installed onlyM and cannot see the video when playin video file (mp4). JWLibrary works fine on the second screen but when I play video on onlyM screen 1 goes blank and screen 2 still shows the year text (JWLibrary ). I have tried it several times with the same result. Following is the verbose log #56

Thank you for your help

@27Graham27 regarding the monitor selection, please use the Settings page to choose the correct monitor for media display. It looks like they will both be named "Generic pnp...." so just choose the one that is currently not selected. This will change the media monitor to the same one used by JWL. Regarding MP4 playback, the log reveals that OnlyM was unable to load the video. This is unusual and I will have to add some extra log data to determine why. Please would you try the other rendering engine (see settings) and report back?

Hi Anthony i have to reply here as my email is on my ipad. I changed the rendering engine to Ffmpeg. This time i could hear the audio clearly but still no picture. I only had on screen attached at the moment but assume that the video should have come up on the desktop. Hi Anthony,

Im sorry I have misled you slightly, I have now connected the second screen and tested again.
JWL works as expected the pictures are on the second screen. onlyM now shows the video and audio on screen 1 or the desktop.
I have included log below: 2018-10-05 18:12:44.299 +10:00 [Debug] Settings changed and saved 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Debug] MediaControl1 (id = a99d97ad-38c9-4d4f-aa65-645be99f0a63) 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Debug] Getting system monitors 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Debug] Reading display devices 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Verbose] Seeking device 0 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Verbose] EnumDisplayDevices retval = True 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Verbose] Device name: \.\DISPLAY1 2018-10-05 18:12:47.121 +10:00 [Verbose] Device attached to desktop 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Secondary EnumDisplayDevices retval = True 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Display device data = \.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0, MONITOR\SDC4C51{4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Seeking device 1 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] EnumDisplayDevices retval = True 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Device name: \.\DISPLAY2 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Device attached to desktop 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Secondary EnumDisplayDevices retval = True 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Display device data = \.\DISPLAY2\Monitor0, MONITOR\SAM04FD{4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0003 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Seeking device 2 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] EnumDisplayDevices retval = True 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Device name: \.\DISPLAY3 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] Seeking device 3 2018-10-05 18:12:47.122 +10:00 [Verbose] EnumDisplayDevices retval = False 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Verbose] Screen: \.\DISPLAY1 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Verbose] Matching device: Generic PnP Monitor, MONITOR\SDC4C51{4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Verbose] Screen: \.\DISPLAY2 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Verbose] Matching device: Generic PnP Monitor, MONITOR\SAM04FD{4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0003 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Information] Opening media window 2018-10-05 18:12:47.123 +10:00 [Verbose] Monitor = \.\DISPLAY2 Left = 1366, top = 48 2018-10-05 18:12:47.145 +10:00 [Information] Starting media C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\OnlyM\Media\jwbcov_E_201805_01_r720P.mp4 2018-10-05 18:12:47.145 +10:00 [Debug] ShowVideoOrPlayAudio - Media Id = a99d97ad-38c9-4d4f-aa65-645be99f0a63 2018-10-05 18:12:47.145 +10:00 [Debug] Firing Started - Media Id = a99d97ad-38c9-4d4f-aa65-645be99f0a63 2018-10-05 18:12:47.145 +10:00 [Debug] HandleMediaChangeEvent (id = a99d97ad-38c9-4d4f-aa65-645be99f0a63, change = Starting) 2018-10-05 18:12:47.145 +10:00 [Debug] jwbcov_E_201805_01_r720P 2018-10-05 18:12:47.196 +10:00 [Debug] OpenCommand: Entered 2018-10-05 18:12:47.237 +10:00 [Debug] COMP AUDIO: Start Offset: 0.000; Duration: 66.191 2018-10-05 18:12:47.237 +10:00 [Debug] COMP VIDEO: Start Offset: 0.000; Duration: 66.191 2018-10-05 18:12:47.237 +10:00 [Debug] SYNC-BUFFER: Started. 2018-10-05 18:12:47.298 +10:00 [Information] Opened 2018-10-05 18:12:47.298 +10:00 [Debug] HandleMediaChangeEvent (id = a99d97ad-38c9-4d4f-aa65-645be99f0a63, change = Started) 2018-10-05 18:12:47.298 +10:00 [Debug] jwbcov_E_201805_01_r720P 2018-10-05 18:12:47.330 +10:00 [Debug] SYNC-BUFFER: Finished. Hi Anthony,

I changed to the other Pnp monitor and it now works correctly, so my problem was that I needed to change the rendering engine, thank you for your help, I should have tried that but didnt notice it in the config. Thank you again for your prompt assistance.

Regards,,,Graham

AntonyCorbett commented 5 years ago

Hi Graham

I'm glad it's working, but surprised that the "Media Foundation" engine doesn't work for you. The ffmpeg engine uses more CPU whereas Media Foundation relies more on the GPU (graphics card). You may want to try manually updating the graphics card driver (using the GPU manufacturer's website rather than Windows Update) and then try Media Foundation again. I'll close the issue for now but please reopen if there's further info to report.

Kind regards Antony

I'm having a similar problem. A video I've made using VSDC video editor won't play in Only M. Other videos and even ones I've made work fine. I have tried both rendering engines. I've also created the video in several different files types, mpg, mp4, avi, and wmv. The files play fine on my PC but not within Only M. Sometimes I get a blank screen on the 2nd monitor. Sometimes no display at all. Only M shows the preview in the app. The video file is 1920 x 1080, 30fps, 10 min. long.

@crispycritter54 would it be possible to send me a copy of the video please (or a link for download)? Email to the SoundBox help desk - I'm the only one with access. Also please indicate OnlyM version.

My Only M version is: 1.5.0.8

Thanks very much for your help on this. The video is needed for an upcoming public talk.

@crispycritter54 Thanks. The problem is with the file name - it contains an unusual character between "CGI" and "1080". It's legal as far as the OS is concerned, but the rendering engine chokes on it. Just remove the odd character (which looks like a bullet-point).

I was just looking through the settings to see if there is a way to go directly to the next slide from the video while it is still playing. But I don’t think that is an option. I noticed while the video is playing that the “Play” buttons on the slides become inactive. Perhaps a feature request?

Thanks ajm

@crispycritter54 by all means add it as a feature request (a new issue). However, the current behaviour is by design. It prevents you accidentally interrupting a video (because it's difficult to resume playing from where it stopped).
