Make web-clock available outside your own network #421

Whilst using Zoom, could there be other solutions besides one of the connections being a clock

My thoughts were, could we change the website on which the WEB-CLOCK is broadcast, so that with the right url, any of the brothers could use their phone (for example) or a web page if they are on a windows/mac device, to show the web clock. It would be a good alternative to displaying the clock on Zoom,

My concern with the zoom picture of one person being a clock, is that it can distract the brothers, so they are looking at someone going overtime rather than benefitting from the material being discussed

Many thanks for all your hard work.

Hi Paul,

check this https://github.com/AntonyCorbett/OnlyT/issues/415

Maybe it will be useful

Best regards!

Thanks for that Xeitu, appreciate your input there. Nice to see it's not only me looking at this too. My concern with this solution is that, whilst I could possibly take some time and work through that process and make it work, it demands a certain level of sophistication, and it wouldn't work for everyone that has a shared involvement in the zoom team, so as a result, the reality is it wouldn't be used, we'd continue on the path of having a clock on one of the zoom accounts (which isn't a huge issue) If we were to use the option of having the timer broadcast it has to be a simple solution that anyone could manage, hence the request to see if we could utilise a site already in use, then anyone in the team can easily point the url to that site, and brothers with parts can easily log in to it, perhaps again using a QR code. Maybe a seperate issue, but.. If the remote API on ios (or other) could equally be pointed to this site, it would be great if it could be managed by anyone once launched. I will have a closer look though at your solution Xeitu, thanks for it, maybe it's easier than sounds. :)

Hi Paul,

We dismiss the OBS or clock broadcasting solution because is not only distracting but also a little bit harsh.

Thats because we make de clock o current timer available to everyone with a public URL (can be visited by any device with a web browser). And to give remote control of the timer with the mobile app to the audio/video brothers, thats password protected.

but as you say all this involves some technical complexity.

If I can help you in somehow, drop me a line. Maybe I must learn to explain me better 🤣 (English is not my primary language)

Best regards!

Hi Brothers I solved by creating a link like this http://timerschool.ddns.net:8096/index Using a free DDNS server if it can be useful I do a little tutorial.

Aex981 commented 3 years ago

Ciao a tutti, interesserebbe anche a me capire come fare. Se lo avessi scoperto prima lo avrei proposto anche per le adunanze completamente da remoto. Comunque anche ora che saranno ibride sarà utile lo stesso. Grazie mille
