Move Shifter to Crew? #48

Technically the Shifter is a neutral role. They will lose at the end of the game if they haven’t become crew. Right now they can shift onto some neutral roles but they can never become an Impostor. It seems like people treat them as a Crew role. (Town of Us R even made them win with crew). It seems like maybe we should just make it a Crewmate role. This would mean Seer and similar effects might affect it differently.

Does this raise any complications with a Crewmate now shifting into a Neutral role? I assume not because it already happens (just going the other way).

One dilemma might be making sure their tasks work appropriately.

If we do this, what do we do about the Shifter's tasks? Should they swap?

With shift chaining on.. the shifter is like the queen of spades in a game of hearts. (The queen of spades is very bad if you have it at the end of the round in hearts).. so it would incentivise people to shift as a shifter can never win as a shifter. (As neutral)

If the chaining is off, then the shifter role does not last long.

From my pov if a shifter is crew.. they should die if they shift into any neutral or impostor (basically opposite of the sheriff)

It would then stop people shifting into a neutral role and the now crewmate/shifter then going "so and so is the glitch".. instead they can only go "so and so is crew"

Maybe that's overpowered though, unless the shifter dies of course? Maybe a maximum amount of shifts... like 4 shifts a game?
