Some thoughts I've had:
Should the Jester just be a crewmate role? Downside is that their goals are contrary and it creates weird incentives. Some mechanism where everyone can guess who they think the Jester is; if everyone is right the Jester just loses Hard to implement and also the crew don't necessarily want to axe out the Jester even with full knowledge of their role.
One concern here is that Jester can still win on three (we've had some epic Jester wins in a final three showdown).
I'm also leery of players changing roles, especially late in the game. Do we now make their tasks real and count for crew win? It also really messes with things because players' incentives have changed dramatically.

I think starting them off as a crewmate gives them tasks, which im not sure is optimal. But what if the jester had some mechanism to convert themselves to crewmate if the game is too far along for them and they are now a kingmaker.
