Recreating YACS would be a waste. Instead, we should create a course scheduler that is designed after the common process RPI students go through, including myself this morning: look for courses I need, try to choose sections with good times, get some crns rejected, change course crns, even change courses, etc.
Whereas YACS is a great course and period browser, it does not work with this unpredictable process very well and makes students have to work around it.
I propose a page where you can choose what courses you need, give preferences for how you like your schedules organized, and have it automatically adapt to the issues that come up such as switching sections or switching courses.
