Please request an AppImage from the application's author. If the application author is interested, I can support them doing the AppImage.

ghost commented 7 years ago

Author is not placed on Github.

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Please see it here: https://bintray.com/probono/AppImages/AzPainter/_latestVersion#files

Since the deb does not have full dependency information, some libraries may be missing, please let me know if you encounter this. Thanks.

@probonopd, Hi, here is normal PPA with updated locales.

Here is for Debian

Please, update its AppImage ;)

probonopd commented 7 years ago

AzPainter 2.0.2 released (bugfix)

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Rebuild triggered.

ghost commented 7 years ago

What about 32bit-builds?

probonopd commented 7 years ago

I don't provide example AppImages for 32-bit. But you can do :-)

AzPainter 2.0.2-4 (locales fix)

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Rebuild triggered. Please keep in mind that my AppImages are just examples; it would be best if the original application author could provide official AppImages.

ghost commented 7 years ago

Please, update to AzPainter 2.0.4 (it include many fixes)

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Hi @Symbian9 do you think Azel could do the AppImage himself? That would be the true spirit of AppImage - the author can release one whenever he wants.

Build triggered.

ghost commented 7 years ago

Azel not provide any binaries, only sources.

And thats why I don't think that he will provide AppImages by himself.

P.S.: This PPA also started by another one user on my request.

Problem here is that Azel not yet learn English well. So, thanks me, you and few other people we give "green lite" for AzPainter in non-Japanese world ))

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Azel not provide any binaries, only sources.

AppImage is for authors who want to provide binaries to their end users...

probonopd commented 7 years ago

Failed, because

+desktop-file-validate ./azpainter.desktop
./azpainter.desktop: error: value "application/x-azpainter-apd" for string list key "MimeType" in group "Desktop Entry" does not have a semicolon (';') as trailing character

If the AzPainter source code was on GitHub, I would quickly have sent a Pull Request.

@probonopd hi! is any chance for gajim + OMEMO plugin AppImage package? Or any easy how to do it ? (is there any tool for automate it, just like win Cameyo app ? works as 1. do a snapshot of system before install 2. install software 3. do a differential snapshot after install 4. generate package )

probonopd commented 6 years ago

Hi @esce76, please ask the gajim + OMEMO plugin authors. I am happy to help them if they want to make an AppImage. AppImageKit is intended as a tool for the original application authors to distribute their own applications, and have them supported by the original application authors. It is not meant for third parties to merely repackage someone else's applications (because without deep understanding of the application, the results are usually not optimal, and neither is the support).
