Apperta Foundation members on github- need to be identifiable (people) #4

Hi Just noted there seems to be an anonymous Apperta user account that has posted issue on the Github repo for the Apperta Foundation. ie Who is "Apperta"?

IMHO thats not proper github etiquette, if I could politely mention :o)

ie I'm a member of the Apperta Foundation organisation on Github and my name is Tony Shannon, so my issues, discussions, contributions are under my name. I'm also a member of several other organisations on github, with different level of privileges on each..

Thats not to say your username needs to be MrJohnDobson or whatever, it could be ToonArmyFan or NotAToonArmyFan, but still want to know whos who here.

Bottom line, while there is clear case for Apperta Foundation as organisation, there should be no need for a user called Apperta. Just a tidy up job needed imho, everyones learning...

Thanks Tony

Dear @Apperta I should mention its very easy to change your user name, See here https://help.github.com/articles/changing-your-github-username/ Hope that helps Tony

Yes I reckon we should all just use our own GH usernames for most work.

[There might be very rare occasions where it could be desirable for an 'individual GitHub user action' to be taken by an 'Apperta corporate entity' account (eg transferring the ownership of a repo) so maybe worth keeping the Apperta account around just in case, and there should be clear guidelines about who can use it and why]

Generic accounts badness.

Fishy1976 commented 6 years ago

Agreed - I'll make sure I check who I'm logged in as

Do keep the account. Add 2FA. Add SSH keys and PGP keys (passworded with a yubikey or similar) to this account.

And then Apperta can sign its 'gold edition' releases.
