this is the error i am getting i tried sudo xcode-select -switch /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools but this doesn't help

sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer xcode-select --install sudo xcodebuild -license

so i have to install Xcode?

You don't. I provide pre-compiled builds here. These are built off of the latest sources and contain more verbose logging information for me to use.
