Portable cell takes and dupes items. #287

I had previously taken some food and stored it in my cell, but when I open it later, it's all gone so I try to relaunch. That does not work so I take some items out of the cell, but when I go back into it, the items i took out are still in there, BUT the original items are in my inventory. So I take those items out, and it turns out they are not phantom items when I decide to relaunch again. This is in single player, but not a mod pack. I have a mod list though you can breeze through. Ok, I don't know how and why, but restarting my computer all together seems to remedy this. >.>

This issue has no apparent "fix". I thought restarting my computer did help, but little was I wrong. Any Ideas?

This topic come up before on the old issue tracker Algo said it's maybe a server lag where the items seems to duplicate but it's only a visual, you can move and play with the items but only 1 exists and when you try to place the ghost item it will simply dissaper.

Everything in my portable cell was eaten. Had storage consumed, then went to zero. It's definately got saving issues.

Probaly ghost items. Try relogging! Copy your world in a singleplayer world or try it on a powerful server!

I haven't said I am running this on single player, not on a server. So the server lag stuff does not apply to me. And I said, relogging does not do anything to the items I get. As with invtweaks thatsIch, I will try that out and see what I can find out. Maybe it could be an error with storage containment?

Elaborate?

Also try using rv2. We don't have any reasonable access to stable anymore.

I would also be curious if you were able to reproduce this behavior with only AE2 installed.

I can try that. If not, i can try and narrow down some mods to see. Still need to update to rv2 though

I put this issue on the old tracker months ago. Back then it happend only really rarely, only when the server was lagging. But it is certainly no sync issue.

Since the last update of my server this problem is happening again, but allmost all the time. Had to stop using portable cells for now.

And the really strange thing, i did not update AE2 that time. So it has to be some other mod creating that issue. Maybe Extra Cells? I did update that.

Maybe i can try to remove some mods once i have time to test that but that may take a few days.

I have that duplication thing too and definitely not ghost items It doesnt save when putting stuff in or out when it is being charged while opend (eg standing on ic2 chargepads)

There is no way we can test all mod combinations. We need to pinpoint it down to maybe a handful.

While seeing that FR for Forge: export on run a mods.txt to make a diff easily lol

The mods in this list that I do not have on my own instance are binnie-mods, gregtech, mod tweaker, minetweaker, and extra cells.

On a backup world, can you try removing these one at a time? I suggest extra cells first, since it is an ae addon.

I did two hours of testing today and could still not pinpoint the problem. Removing all of the mods above did not help.

But it seems lag related. When i test on a new world, the portable cells work fine. Starting my serverworld with many laggy machines, slowing down the TPS and making some lags it comes again. Or maybe some special thing has to be build?

Was interested in this topic and started to use the portable cell in my survivor world to see if it's happens with me too, The result is... sadly no? Because for me the portable eats up items time by time there is no pattern in it, the world has 0 percent lag and neither the eated items connect in any way. Since a 'oh items being eaten by my cute portable' issue makes nothing I will just mention it and test it further, I may find the cause with time.

Deleting items is a separate issue, please open a new issue for this.

Of the mods thatslch posted, these are the ones I'm using and finding the bug in: •buildcraft •CodeChickenCore •CoFHCore •EnderIO •ExtraUtilities •inventorytweaks •NEIAddons •NotEnoughItems •Railcraft •Thaumcraft •ThaumicTinkerer •Waila •Baubles

[Edit] After testing, I believe that this issue has to do with Applied Energistics 2 itself. Even with no mods, I'm seeing the bug. Using rv1-stable-1 and rv2-alpha-19. In case it helps, I'm using MCP v9.05, FML v7.10.85.1236, and Minecraft Forge 10.13.2.1236.

Occasionally (somewhat randomly) the inventory will actually save, resulting in duplicating items when removing. So duplication/deletion is the same issue.

It seems that the bug is related to clicking on a block, as it works when you open it without a block selected.

having a simalar ishue myself i have over 80 mods installed so dont wana list them all i noticed somone said that it worked when facing a certain direction at first this seemed to be true but i quickly noticed its acting funny if when you r.click it is on an object/block if you leave yourself plenty of room so that nuthing is in your focus it seems to work normal if an item/block is in focus when u r.click it only looks like it works and dupes/deletes items as stated towards the top. I also am in single/lan world.

This was an issue on the old tracker, where the report described that the portable cell dupes items but only when you are right clicking to a block and not to "empty" air. Algo fixed it that time, seems like its back? No version tho.

This issue is closed and ancient. Open a new issue of you can reproduce this on the latest version. It was fixed a few build ago
