Easier way to remove color from cables #7494

Open Ishan-Dixit opened 9 months ago

Ishan-Dixit commented 9 months ago

Describe the feature

Fluix crystals are made by tossing charged certus crystals into water. Use this same mechanic to "wash" dyed cables and return them to their default fluix variant.

Example: tossing red dense smart ME cable into water would turn it into fluix dense smart ME cable

Reasons why it should be considered

QoL. If I have a stack of red cables that I wish to turn to a different color, then it is maddening to do it repeatedly with 64 water buckets. Sometimes snow is not readily available for snowballs to be a viable option.

Additional details

If this is not acceptable, then please consider n cables + 1 water bucket = n default cables; instead of the current way being 1 cable + 1 water bucket = 1 default cable.

Thank you for considering.

Why not just add a functional block

if recipes are complicated to add, it may be a good choice to add a block to just remove the color of the cable, just like the craft table

Maybe a recipe for 8 to be washed at the same time would be enough?

What about using a cauldron similar to washing leather armor?

If you want to change the colour, why not use the Colour Applicator? You can hold it in your offhand and when you place cables they will match the colour; It can change across colours as well, no need to make them uncoloured. (That being said, it can't REMOVE colour, if you want plain cables specifically.)

it can, you can put snowballs in it as "fluix dye"

Wow, didn't know that! Thanks!
