Release 1.9.0 #599

Changes

  1. Bump version, update NEWS.md and add a migration guide.
  2. Update release instructions. Some actions need to be performed after the package is accepted to CRAN:
    • To add a new documentation version to pkgdown/versions.yml we need the version to be tagged in GitHub, which only happens after the package is accepted to CRAN.
    • The migration guide needs to be linked in NEWS.md after the website is updated, as a dead link will result in CRAN rejection.

Testing

I have performed a test upgrade to 1.9 of our Rhino Showcase (Appsilon/rhino-showcase#41) and all seems to work fine. Proper upgrade can happen after 1.9 is accepted to CRAN.
