Weekend Fun @ Artis March 9/after-mdevcon activity? #101

The last two years we have done an Appsterdam non-tech event the day after MDevCon (first year a party, last year a museum visit). Usually there are quite a few people visiting Amsterdam that weekend and I thought it we be nice to stick to the idea of offering them an after-mdevcon-event Appsterdam style :)

I figured going to the Zoo would be a good option, because it doesn't take much preparation and very little coordination.

Any suggestions on other activities are welcome, preferably low profile though. Any input on whether or not to do this is very welcome too.

If we do this, I'm willing to organize and host it :) Anyone care to co-host? (Doesn't involve any tasks, except for being a go-to-person during event) Do I mention it being an after-mdevcon thing on MeetUp in the title and/or description?

@judykitteh you've organized the previous ones I think, am I missing something?

@SidelineNoob , this would be on 8 March, correct? I'd be happy to co-host, and I haven't been to the zoo yet, so that would be a bonus if we go there.

@SidelineNoob @tross6 Pretty sure I can also help out too as I have my own pass. Just promise not to throw me in the croc tank.

@tross6 This would be on Sunday March 9, as mdevcon itself is on Saturday March 8 :)

Artis sounds good! Maybe @whakkee can hook us up with her friend at the zoo to give the group a tour again?

@SidelineNoob Can we get this on our calendar soon? It would be nice to advertise it since mdevcon is in less than a month and they're ramping up their PR about the event.

@SidelineNoob Also, I will be traveling on the 9th now for a project, so I won't be able to co-host or go after all.

@judykitteh Oops, this slipped through my planning. I'll put up a placeholder event now, without final details and I will make the description on Monday and announce the meetup.

@tross6 Too bad :(

@g7morris You still up for co-hosting?

@whakkee You think you can hook us up with your friend at the zoo for a guided tour again? If not, perhaps we can do a tour from the Artis app (e.g. the forgotten animals route)

Cool! Anyone who has access to the Appsterdam Twitter account, feel free to promote it! It will also automatically go to our FB page. Let me know if you need help with this.

I've been away for a few days and forgot to start promoting the event. If someone could send me the pwd for our twitter account, that would be awesome, I know what it says, but forgot how it's written… I'm using a different computer than before, and apparently haven't set up that account in my twitter client yet. I'm also admin at our Facebook page, shall I write a somewhat longer (longer than a tweet) post about it as well?
