Just had a meeting with Dean Janssen who is a co-organizer of the Interaction14 conference, Feb 5-8. He's in charge of the evening events and opening & closing parties. They would like Appsterdam to do a social event on Thursday, Feb 6, 19:00-23:00 or so.
IxDA is the Interaction Design Association, an international organization with local chapters around the world. They have an annual conference in different cities, this year being in Amsterdam at the Westergas Gashouder, with the organization handled by IxDA Netherlands. The 4-day Interaction14 conference includes 1 workshop day and 3 days of plenary sessions. They expect 700-800 attendees with 40% coming from the States, 30% from the Netherlands, 25% from the UK and Mainland Europe, and the rest from other parts of the world.
The evening of February 6 is designed to give attendees a taste of different communities in Amsterdam by holding various events around the city. The focus is on content offered by organizations in the Amsterdam community and meeting people. They're already talking to:
We have the freedom to do whatever we want. The idea is to have an audience that's 50% IxDA and 50% Appsterdam. Since the entire is based on interaction and design, they would prefer to have the evening events be peripherally related to that, so something about startups, something technical, marketing, etc. I'm thinking we can have an evening similar to Meet the Makers, with a couple of companies/startups presenting what they do or give advice. The evening should be inspirational to the audience.
I'm looking for another person to help coordinate things with me and I'm also open to any ideas you might have!
