NSHipster Pub Quiz, Oct 22 #60

Matt Thompson (@mattt) will be in Appsterdam Oct 18-22. I'm organizing an event for him on Sunday, the 20th since he asked if we have any speaking opportunities, but he's not here on a Wednesday. He also wants to do a NSHipster Pub Quiz on the evening of Oct 22. I offered to help him organize that as well.

@tross6 @mmeiborg: Can we have SoftLayer sponsor some drinks for this?

@alloy: Do you want CocoaPods to be involved?

Thoughts, anyone?

Matt will actually be speaking at CocoaHeads on Wednesday October 16. Of course it would be great to have Appsterdam people there!

@pr1001: I've been thinking.. wouldn't it make more sense to keep your CocoaHeads meeting on Tuesday and we do the Pub Quiz on Wednesday evening? That way you wouldn't have to change the date and we could do the Pub Quiz on our normal Meeten en Drinken night. What day/time is Mattt leaving?

No. Mattt is busy all day on Tuesday, and Wednesday was the best day for him.

I already have arrangements that weekend. While I might be back on Sunday evening, I won’t know until the very last minute. If I do get back in time, I can definitely help out, if you need more hands?

@alloy It would be great to have a helping hand for Tuesday evening's Pub Quiz! You were there for the Pub Quiz at WWDC, right? So you probably have a more solid idea of how the event goes.

I'm going to ask Cafe Bax if we can have it there, but if anyone has another suggestion, let me know, I'm open.

@judykitteh Ah I misread, I thought this was on Sunday as well. Sure thing, I’ll be there! I wasn’t at the WWDC pub quiz, though, so I don’t know more than you do, but I can email Mattt myself to ask him, unless you’re already doping so?

@alloy: Sorry, I didn't make it very clear in the initial post! I'm already emailing with Mattt, so no worries there. He asked for a venue that has:

If Cafe Bax isn't doable, I'll look into Bierfabriek, Cafe de Jaren, and maybe even Rockstart Accelerator if none of those cafes look like a good spot.

@judykitteh also check out cafe Fijnhout in Oud-West. They do these kind of things and they serve a mean burger.

He's a nice guy, I would not be surprised if he will open up to serve 30 burgers and beers :-)

Bax has been secured as the venue, now awaiting word from SoftLayer.

@mmeiborg: Jasper asked if we want to do a Dutch bar (just pils) or full bar. I guess it depends on how much sponsorship we can get!

@mmeiborg Have you heard back from SoftLayer? Mattt is checking with Heroku as well.

We decided on a Dutch bar, so pils, sodas, wine. Any fancy beers is pay-your-own.

No need to be there too late. You can just leave when you need to. I'm guessing the event will last until at least 10, possibly longer depending on how much fun we're having :)
