I've put up an event on Meetup for our presence at mdevcon.
Are you available to volunteer and man the Appsterdam table? I'm looking for 3 enthusiastic people who would be happy to talk to strangers about what Appsterdam is, how to get involved, why we do what we do, etc. We can work in shifts and you will be able to attend sessions since most of the traffic will be before the conference starts and in between sessions.
Let me know!
I'll do it!
I'd be happy to help out!

Yes please! I'd love to come and help out both days :)
@tross6 @tomvanarman @SidelineNoob Super, thanks guys! I'll let the conference organizers know that you'll be there so they can create badges for you. FYI, the conference is just one day, Saturday March 8. March 7 is for the workshops and they're held offsite so we won't be there.
Here's the schedule:
08:00 **Setup table* 08:30 Conference registration opens, people start to enter 09:00 Conference opens/Keynote 09:50 1st sessions 10:40 Coffee break 11:00 2nd sessions 12:00 3rd sessions 12:50 Lunch break 13:30 4th sessions 14:30 5th sessions 15:20 Coffee break** 15:40 6th sessions 16:40 Closing Keynote 17:30 Closing remarks, breakdown our table
18:00 After Party - If it's the same place as last year, it'll be at the Three Sisters Pub on Rembrandtplein. We get a few free drink tickets with our badge.
*Table setup includes: banner(s), flyers (if we have any by that time), stickers, promo materials from our sponsors, and a looped Appsterdam promo video (to be played from my laptop/iPad or monitor if we have one).
Let me know when you can be there. I'll be there all day, including the after party. My apartment is really close by so we can just bring everything there after we break down.
Hello, just wanted to let you know that I bought the conference ticket. So in case it happens you need 1 more shift, count me in
@maggix Radness!
I'll try to be there at 8:00, 8:30 at the latest and I'll stay all day, inc after party :)
There has been a new development in our participation this year.
Unlike the previous years, Appsterdam will not be the only table at the event and we won't be placed in the front room. Instead, we are putting together a Community Lab Room, located in Tuschinski's VIP room upstairs.
Here's a nice photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pulp-o-rama/2104713134/
The other groups involved are Cocoaheads (iOS/Mac), DutchAUG (Android), and StoreAppsUG (Windows phone).
The room will serve two important functions:
My thought was to have open lab sessions where attendees can come sign up for a short session (15-20 minutes or so) and have someone from our organizations be available to help them through a problem with their app, technical/design questions, etc. Sometimes people don't attend sessions throughout the day, so this would be a good way to keep them occupied while also keeping them on the conference premises and most importantly, helping them with a problem they have.
The DutchAUG will host an Android programming / design helpdesk. And also bring along a lot of Android goodness, so demonstrations of Glass or Chromecast, etc.
I think this is a pretty cool idea and is something that Ivo and I thought up in the past few days. So let me know what you think about how you guys can contribute to the Appsterdam lab.
Hi Judy,
I like the idea for the open lab sessions.
I can be available on 7 & 8 for a few hours to help, either at an Appsterdam table, or in the lab sessions. How do I sign up / pick a slot? Where do you need me?
Matt

@mattfeigal This is only for March 8. March 7 is a workshop day and we do not have a table there. Edited the title of this issue to reflect that.
The lab sessions will be at the table.
I already told Ivo that @SidelineNoob, @tomvanarman, @tross6 & @ElDragonRojo will be there.
@SidelineNoob @tomvanarman @tross6: Can I switch one of you out with @mattfeigal?
I could switch.
I can also switch. Let me know...

This request is a little off topic, but I didn't want to open a whole new issue for it. I've had a letter/envelope mailed from the US to me at the Appsterdam HQ at Alab. Would someone be able to pick that up for me and bring it with you to the Mdevcon?
I work at A Lab quite often and I will be at mdevcon so I can do that, but has it already been delivered? I need to find out how mail works at A Lab

Thanks

@tross6 Thanks, Tara. @mattfeigal You can take Tara's spot. I'll let Ivo know.
What I envision for our table and the lab sessions is that people can come to us and sign up for a 15-minute one-on-one "consultation." So, what topic(s) are you good at advising people on?
For me, as a non-technical person, I could probably talk to people about general UI/UX and talk them through their ideas for an app.
The Dutch AUG is doing the same with their focus on Android (obviously!) and they're also bringing some Google hardware for people to try out.
Your availability depends on when you can be there and whether you'll be in a conference session or not. I don't expect it to be very busy in the community lab room, but maybe I'll be proven wrong!
I feel like maybe I'm not explaining this whole concept very well. Can you guys let me know what other questions you have so I can clarify things?
@casademora I could not find the person who received the mail. Maybe someone at A Lab these days can ask to Codum people?
Hi Judy, am I still needed at the table? Yes or no I'm happy!

Yes, Tom. :)
Everything's all figured out.
@maggix You don't need to be at our table if you don't want to. I think we have plenty of people.
Reminder: if you want to join us on Sunday at the zoo, you can RSVP here.
Closing this issue. It's gonna be a great weekend!
For the 3rd year in a row, Appsterdam will act as a media partner for mdevcon. This means we'll be promoting their event and in return we will have a table to promote ourselves at the event. I'll be looking for a couple volunteers to man the table but we can figure that out later as we get closer to the date.
Moreover, their Call for Papers is now open. I encourage you to submit something and hopefully we can have a nice mdevcon schedule with lots of Appsterdam speakers. :) It's a really gezellig and well-run conference, held at the historic Tuschinski theater. I definitely look forward to it each year!
