WorkLab paying residents complains #84

Closed ticofab closed 10 years ago

Hi, I was here last night until the Pitch Club with Mike started.

One other person was also here, a paying WorkLab resident. Today, he complained about the fact that he didn't know that such a "loud" gathering would take place. He also complained that he came here on Saturday and the room was full of people for some conference (maybe the "iOS for Beginners" with Sam?), and he had to go work at the tables upstairs.

More than the annoyance, he complained about the miscommunication, as he'd expect to be notified when the "24/7 workspace" deal he struck is somehow affected.

How can we prevent this in the future? Is there a mailing-list to all customers or something like that?

Thanks, @ticofab for your note about this. We should connect with Anne on the protocol and make sure it's clear. @judykitteh or @mmeiborg , do you know our agreement for having meetings in the workhotel after hours?

Also thanks for the heads up @ticofab, @tross6, @judykitteh, @mmeiborg, I didn't realise the work hotel agreement with residents was 24/7 when I booked it for iOS for beginners. I'd be happy to speak with Anna about alternative venues at A-lab for the Saturday sessions. Just let me know, I would be happy to accommodate. Kind regards. Tom

There is no specific agreement on organizing events. We just have to let A-Lab know in advance. A-Lab themselves organize events in the Work Hotel every now and then, and they communicate that to us, as well as every paying customer I assume. Part of our arrangement however is that we attract people to A-Lab and our events are a good mean. So I am sure it's only a matter of communication.

@tomvanarman Yes please inform Anne at A-Lab about the iOS for beginners dates so that he can communicate them to the paying key holders. If that leads to any protests we'll pick it up from there.

Many thanks @mmeiborg Martinus, I'm helping out on the Guru Sessions every 4-6 weeks at HQ. Very handy spot so long as it communicated well with the whole of A-lab before hand. Do you have Anne's contact info? Cheers, Tom

I'm surprised someone was there after hours. That's the first time I've heard of it! Sorry, didn't think anyone would be there because normally there isn't. Indeed, we will make it a policy to always tell Anne that we're having an event. That way he can notify the other tenants. @tomvanarman Please put that in the Captains doc.

FYI:

  1. We are also paying tenants, which means we have just as much right to be in the room as other tenants. All tenants have 24/7 access with their key.
  2. It's A Lab, without a hyphen. Yes, confusing I know because of the URL.
  3. It's Samuel, not Sam. :)
