Option to only consider updates from followed stores #849

I only want to receive app updates from stores I trust so that I don't get malware or pre-release versions of apps I already have installed. Can an option be added to only list apps from stores I'm following? By default, I don't want a search to even show apps from unfollowed stores but let's start with just the updates.

Hello @carlin-q-scott

Currently we fetch updates only for the user's followed stores - so the behaviour you described should not happen. If you are not following any store we get the updates from the community store: apps.

Are you currently following the store "apps"? If you are not and you are following specific stores, could you tell us which version of Aptoide you have installed? (version is under user account > settings > About us

Under settings you can disable beta versions for the updates. If you feel that you are getting pre-release versions with this option please report so we can investigate.

For the default option under the search results (all stores vs followed stores) we will bring up this potential usability problem and try to solve it.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

@jdandrade I must have been confused by how stores share apps because what I kept finding was that the versions of my apps that were presented in my updates feed were not from "apps", the only store I'm currently following. I think those app updates were recommended by the "apps" store, not uploaded by them. Some of them also had fake/virus reports against them so I didn't think they were from the trusted "apps" store. You can go ahead and close this issue unless you see a better way to present the information in Aptoide.

I have the beta updates off but I'm being presented with a "-pre" release of KeePass2Android. I don't know how Aptoide determines a pre-release, but my experience tells me that any version string with a "-something" on the end is a beta version. I downloaded their latest official release from their GitHub releases feed and it's older than what Aptoide is trying to update me to.

Thank you for considering switching the default search to followed stores. I hadn't noticed the toggle at the top of the search view until after I posted this, but it's still annoying to be constantly toggling it back to the "followed stores" option.

Same problem here. I follow only "apps", and all updates offered are from "3rd party" stores (Example : Firefox Browser update is from "firetvstick" store). I could search manually for every update on "apps" store, but I don't have time for that :'( Like @carlin-q-scott I find very annoying and misleading that "search view" show by default results from non-followed stores. Re-toggling every time is just time wasted. In addition, in the "Apps view" I found no way to retrieve the "origin store" from an already installed app.

In this state, aptoide is unusable for me.

Can confirm as well. I keep getting updates from a store called appupdater, which I double checked and I'm currently NOT following.

Then, I have Whatsapp Business installed from the apps store but I keep seeing updates for it from a mark8 store. Again, I did not trust mark8 and I am currently not following it.

Clearly Aptoide does allow updates from untrusted stores and this defeats the entire purpose of a "trusted" store.

I am using the latest version of aptoide
