404 from manifest to display images in IIIF viewers #140

Image copied from manifest (https://iiif.archivelab.org/iiif/McGillLibrary-rbsc_ms-medieval-073-18802/manifest.json) returns a 404 (appears to be all images in the manifest, not just this one).

Images display in our website (https://cantus.simssa.ca/manuscript/680970/?pageAlias=Image%201), but not in IIIF viewers Mirador, Bodleian, or Universal viewer in Chrome, Firefox, or Safari (nor in Mirador on my colleague's machine). Can still view the original archive source (https://archive.org/details/McGillLibrary-rbsc_ms-medieval-073-18802/page/n11/mode/2up).

Though Cantus Ultimus still gets tiles (https://iiif.archivelab.org/iiif/McGillLibrary-rbsc_ms-medieval-073-18802$2/0,8192,4096,4096/256,256/0/native.jpg), when I replace the “8192” in the URL with “8191" I get a 404, instead of getting a square of the same size.

Hi @kyrieb-ekat - the old ArchiveLab service is slowly being phased out in favour of the shiny new IIIF Presentation v3 compatible official service hosted on the main archive.org infrastructure (blog post with more info: https://blog.archive.org/2023/09/18/making-iiif-official-at-the-internet-archive/) and so you might have better luck switching to using that.

It still has v2 support, so you can switch over your existing usage reasonably easily by changing the base domain from iiif.archivelab.org to iiif.archive.org. There's a bit more discussion around this in an issue on the repo for the new service: https://github.com/internetarchive/iiif/issues/61

I've alerted the IA team to the current issue with the ArchiveLab service, so a resolution should also be coming for that, but if you have the opportunity to switch to the new services, that is a better option for the future.
