safari, preferences, and javascript

From a user:

First attempt:
Changed the "Filter by collection" option to "All"
Now, when I search it says "Institutional Catalog: All".

Yet, when I search for something that I know is in the MVZ database (Any
taxonomic element=Thomomys), I get no records back.  

And, when I click on the drop-down menu next to "Institutional Catalog",
the only institution is UAM.

Second attempt:
I logged out, cleared my cache, then went to the Specimens Search page
while NOT logged in.  In this case, when I click on the drop-down menu next
to "Institutional Catalog", all of the institutions are listed.

So I tried logging in again, and was now able to search all museums while
logged in.

But, when I tried searching, this is the error message I got:

"Error Executing Database Query. [Macromedia][Oracle JDBC
Driver][Oracle]ORA-00911: invalid character"

Third attempt:
I had been doing all of my searches using Safari, so I logged out and
re-searched using Firefox, and this time it worked!

This should be functional, but Safari remains a strange duck. Use with caution.
