@lin-fred - we can probably clean up https://arctos.database.museum/agents.cfm?agent_id=21320380, by creating a Teton Science School and then all the people as employees.
Thanks for pointing this out. I've removed "[maiden name]" from our agents and made a note in remarks.
Could we add a non-required remarks field next to the name? (similar to the agent status section):
@wellerjes "maiden" name should be listed as birth name.

Seems like no one in their current staff goes by the names of Debbie, Eric or T. Major, so I don't know if we should add the current employees? Because it probably wasn't the current ones.
Looking through their old staff, one of the Founders was a Ted Majors, but still no Debbie/Eric, so maybe they were possibly family of Ted? I will at least add Ted Major
Edit: these two https://wyofile.com/science-schools-founders/
Are those addresses in status remarks also in addresses? That's not discoverable/usable there, just doing twice as much work all the time isn't a great plan, that's often indicative of some structural problem - should perhaps some merging of status and address be considered?
shouldn't be overly difficult to model (maybe even fits entirely in current address model??), and might include at least one more 'state' than the current.
Yep 'birth name' is a more-inclusive 'maiden' name, and certainly no objection to more name types if they're necessary (as long as they're not arbitrary or overlapping with other stuff, same as always). I don't think we need name remarks, but it's an easy enough change if we do (thanks to good modeling!).
In any case, my concern is that I'll never figure out 'somename' and 'somename [whatever]' are duplicates and I don't think that's spelled out in the documentation - it should be. And I was fully expecting to find thousands and very pleasantly surprised not to!
what do I do with the Teton akas, as that is how they were put on labels and such in the collection, and that's how it was in the legacy database? I'm not so sure about getting rid of them as AKAs for that reason? Thoughts?
I would think of Teton Science School as an actual school. I think they even have a small museum up there. They have interns, volunteers, students, seasonal staff, etc. I would assume your people listed on the tags were associated with them at some time, but they may have been there for only one summer. I would treat them as unknown members of a class or seasonal staff in a park that we do not have a ton of info for. If you have the time you could write the school and ask if they had any way of finding out who they are.
@ccicero - do I remember right that you know the Teton Science School?
But what would they go into otherwise? just the general remarks?
In the car heading to the field so a quick answer without logging into Github.
Yes, I went there as a high school student in 1976. They do have a small educational museum and have permanent staff but also lots of students, interns, etc. So probably lots of folks without much info about them.

verbatim agent attributes in whatever records they are used as collector, preparator, etc. They don't belong in names, maybe put them in remarks if you want.
not sure, but I feel like I'm missing something....

oh right, verbatim agents. Just keeping ya'll on your toes....
Yeah verbatim agents!
I bet I have some Teton Science school stuff here too, but we may have missed the data...I probably need to go look at some tags.
Ok Teton is all good now
I just noticed this, please DO NOT add parenthetical stuff to agent names (unless you have to...) Add more names, request a new name type, use remarks, but please do not add things which are not names to names; it'll just result in less-useful data and more messes.
And 63 out of almost 100K - yay us!
