Initial Request

Goal

Describe what you're trying to accomplish. This is the only necessary step to start this process. The Committee is available to assist with all other steps. Please clearly indicate any uncertainty or desired guidance if you proceed beyond this step.

Context

Describe why this new value is necessary and existing values are not.

There is a value for "needs reimaging", but not one for indicating that digitization is complete. There is data attached to media metadata, but it's not readily visible within the catalog record and requires the media to be attached.

Instances in which this will be used / reasons why this should be separate from media metadata: 1) Motion picture films that were already digitized. CHAS has some films in the audiovisual collection that were commercially produced and have already been digitized by another organization. 2) Documentation that a piece of media has been digitized, but files cannot be located. 3) Re-imaging of media due to change in technology; something has been digitized in the past, but that method is now obsolete and cannot easily be accessed, so the media was re-digitized.

Approval

Implementation

Once all of the Approval Checklist is appropriately checked and there are no Rejection comments, or in special circumstances by decree of the Arctos Working Group, the change may be made.

[ ] Review everything one last time. Ensure the How-To has been followed. Ensure all checks have been made by appropriate personnel.
[ ] Add or revise the code table term/definition as described above. Ensure the URL of this Issue is included in the definition. URLs should be included as text, separated by spaced pipes. Do not include HTML in definitions.

Special Exemptions

In very specific cases and by prior approval of The Committee, the approval process may be skipped, and implementation requirements may be slightly altered. Please note here if you are proceeding under one of these use cases.

Adding an existing term to additional collection types may proceed immediately and without discussion, but doing so may also subject users to future cleanup efforts. If time allows, please review the term and definition as part of this step.
The Committee may grant special access on particular tables to particular users. This should be exercised with great caution only after several smooth test cases, and generally limited to "taxonomy-like" data such as International Commission on Stratigraphy terminology.

OK, but people will also want to use this for other forms of "digitization" (I made a digital image)?

Suggest the definition broaden to include that.
