Creating golems in D&D is a really advanced topic for mages. It would be very hard to justify to mass produce golems that way. There is already a great variety of golems available (including weaker versions in BG1), and the greater variants may even split into two lesser variants when they are destroyed. It would also cause some technical difficulties if you create hundreds of golem instances that way, because of the way how they are stored in saved games.
Per chance you may know the old horror movie called The Asylum from 1972.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068230/
In the last scary chapter, Herbert Lom builds a mini puppet, perhaps 12cm high, that can be remote controlled. That puppet is destroyed, which also kills Lom's character, not before he kills the asylum's director (or some other high ranking guy there in the asylum, I forgot which one, before the main actor gets revenge on Lom for that murder event).
Anyway. What if there are mini golems in the golem mod?
The idea is that only one ingredient is needed e. g. one clay item, or one stone item etc.. It is then also a smaller golem than the current smallest golem e. g. lesser clay golem.
Naturally such a small golem is not very strong; resistances will be the same as the larger ones as well as speed, or speed may even be higher, but hp will be very low and damage output will also be low. (Could have perhaps a bit more attacks per round, but never dominate via damage output compared to taller golems.)
The idea for such a tiny golem is just to build up a quick disposable that is roughly about the same strength as a familiar, give or take.
