MapleStory 2 Interactive Skill Charts

Hi,

Last year I started working on a similar tool to your skill calculator. When I started I had actually never seen your site, but as I later ran into it I found that my main goal was still very relevant: Giving the ability to add interactive skill chart to any website, rather than just a screenshot.

However, since I ran into your site I've been working to also add some of the great features your tool has to offer (like going straight to 0 or 10 and filling in required skills). I did this in part because as my skill charts are able to run anywhere, they could also power your site. E.g. the actual charts could be hosted by my tool, while everything around it (change class, reset skills, save/load builds, show remaining points) would remain unchanged.

But why should you use my charts instead?

• Single source of truth: Together we'd have a single place where we can help each other keeping data up to date. This would probably be by far the most important reason.
• Smaller bundle: You'll reduce the initial page load by approximately 1/3 (with no visible image quality reduction). Granted, this is something that you could probably improve a lot on on your own too.
• Smarter calculations: There's a small thing around how the plus buttons works when you approach the 68-points limit where I believe my charts are slightly smarter. Negligible, for sure.

If you're interested, I've basically done all of the work in my fork of your site which I can create a PR of (was a fun experiment). If you're not interested, I'm sorry for hi-jacking your issues and your time. Thanks for listening.

Fantastic job on your site! With our features combined, you've accomplished my goals as well. I wanted to be able to quickly create a build and share it. Since your site works on mobile, I believe your site to be the superior product.

I don't play ms2 nearly as much as I did in the past but I will be more than happy to watch your repo and contribute if there are any plans for additional features.

While I believe your skill calculator should replace the one here, feel free to make a PR. I'll review it and let ArrowVulcan merge it if he desires.

Looks pretty good. I'm currently not playing MapleStory 2 anymore but I still check it's Reddit and here every now and then. This project started because I was bored and was waiting for MS2 to release. The code is messy and have been re-made a few times during the very start so I'm pretty sure your thing is far better and more optimized than mine.

My goal from the start was just to make a skill calculator that looked and worked like the one in-game. I didn't even think about putting it up online until people on reddit was asking if a skill calculator existed yet and I decided to upload mine.

I've already reached my goal with this project a long time ago. I will probably not continue to add or improve much things on this project. The base is there and will work okey until awakening which will most likely take a long time before we get on the global server anyways. MS2's playerbase has also dropped so much that I don't even think the need for it is high at all anymore.

I appreciate your offer but I will keep using my calculator on my fansite. I really don't have much work/projects at the moment so the very little I have, I prefer it being made by myself as much as possible so that I have something to show for portfolio and such. It may be a little bit selfish but hope you understand.

Don't worry about hi-jacking, my calculator was made as a self-project and was never meant to be shared and used on other sites and blogs etc. If you manage to "steal" the very few people that may be using my calculator on their site, you are free to do so. Cheers :D
