Here is a dungeon generator that uses a 78 card tarot using cups, swords, pentacles, and wands, and Major Arcana. Do you think /r deal 5 tarot could be implemented?

ArtemGr commented 6 years ago

Yep, it can be implemented of course.

steelsmiter commented 6 years ago

I suppose I had that coming. Will you?

ArtemGr commented 6 years ago

I'm in a tight stop currently, trying to kickstart a couple of other projects. In theory, I think it's possible to find a win-win solution but in practice most people wouldn't go even as far as trying to convince me D

steelsmiter commented 6 years ago

Alright. Let me know either way at some point.

ArtemGr commented 6 years ago

One of the projects I've mentioned is a creative writing game (cf. https://storium.com/), eventually it'll get funded and we might use something like this there.

steelsmiter commented 6 years ago

Cool.

So thinking more about this, I think we'll need custom card faces to display, right? I planned to experiment with drawing custom faces in #24. Or did you have a textual name and description of the cards in mind?

With textual descriptions, I think we might reuse the memorization (/r $TAROT01 = ... or maybe /r $DEAL01 = ...) in order to specify the names and descriptions of the cards.

I'm not sure what you mean by that but I originally asked the question persuant to this thread on reddit where they talk about the numbers (1-10)and the suits (presumably also with Jack-King), but don't make mention specifically of what the major arcana are. but the sidescrolling list at the top of google and the wiki provides a list of what the major arcana usually are.

I see, thanks @steelsmiter !

I was thinking more in the vein of http://www.facade.com/tarot/, where the cards are displayed, and from different decks to boot, and with interpretations.

In the reddit I can see that a card consists of it's textual kind (Cups, Swords, number, etc), name (Benevolence) and a short interpretation (An empty hallway, A room to rest, An item or treasure, Help). Does that make sense? Maybe you'd like to show an example of how the tarot deal should look with the bot?

I dunno, I wasn't thinking in gui terms, but like "# of suit" or if an arcana is drawn saying what the arcana is.
