I still feel like briefing of clues maybe should be tied to theories, because theories at least encourage writing up context for things instead of just people joining an org and slurping up all the clues with no context as to what each means.
Maybe something like a theory is made available to someone, and then they can learn clues from it at their own pace? It's a little bit of a worry that any mechanism we add for sharing clues might share the same sort of context-free "This is a grab-bag of clues" status that orgs have right now, though. But at least with a theory and plot you know they're about something, so it might feel more wrong to players to add random things.
I think there should be room for individual clue sharing still, for things that are, in someway unrelated to a general theory. Secrets, visions and the like are all examples of areas where that is not mapped.
That said, I like them being attached to theories. What if there is an increased AP cost for sharing clues that are not attached to a shared theory? Though, this would require some sort of 'collaborate' function, to allow for the hiding of AP costs for people that don't want their set known.
The other thing I would recommend is that the other person has to /accept/ the incoming clue(s) and can choose to reject them if they desire.
Theories would feel like too much bookwork for me. I'm already at the edge of 'the amount of work' vs 'just enjoying rp' feeling way out of balance day to day. I understand the necessity but plots are far more manageable to me than theories. I would much rather rp with a person about things and invite them to a plot where they can get the relevant clues. That feels a lot more organic, at least to me.
I lean in the same direction as Packetdancer on this. I would like to see clues tied to stories or theories barring that, when they're attached to orgs.
I think our current clue sharing is unhealthy because of the clue sharing scenes that no one enjoys, so I think we might want to circumvent it by making plot clue sharing possible and letting people learn the clues that someone adds to plots, despite our initial reluctance to do so. Maybe an AP clue share cost to publish it to the plot, and then let anyone opt to learn it. I think as long as we gate with AP from the person doing a publish then that avoids the abuse mechanics imo.
