Black screen on launch #151

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1.Launch any SNES game

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

ZSNES should launch but instead I get just a black screen apparently hung, can
switch to a terminal view and kill processes but am unable to get XBMC or
ZNSNES back

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

XBMCbuntu Frodo 12.2

Please provide any additional information below.

I have tried entirely erasing rom collection broswer and all config files that
I could find from the system and it still does the same thing, launching from
XBMCbuntu shows ZSNES is working as expected, only launching from Rom
Collection Browser hangs.

Having this exact same issue.
Configured ZSNES at the Xbmcbuntu session, can run it fine directly from
Lubuntu interface.
But as soon as I am going back to the XBMC inteface, and run it from there,
only a black screen.
However, I don't think this is a "Rom Collection Browser" issue, I have the
same issue when I run a game from within "Advanced Launcher"

Sorry, I don't have an XBMCbuntu installation, so I can't really help.

I know some users solved this issue with installing an additional window
manager (like OpenBox) and launch games in solo mode.

I had the same problem with XBMCUbuntu downloaded a few days ago. After quite
some hacking, the only solution that works properly is to install OpenBox (or
any other window manager) and run the emulators in SOLO MODE. Also, I launch
XBMC with -fs parameter, and NOT -standalone. Search in the XBMC forum for
instructions on how to do this.

Now, MAME and Mednafen work great. The only (minor) problem I currently have is
that if I select Exit in XBMC menu, XBMC exits leaving a grey screen (only
OpenBox running with no windows). However, Suspend, Hibernate, Reboot and
Shutdown all work OK.
