Start button missing? #453

Using latest version, have used g-i-a for ages, but suddenly I can't see the Start button. Has this changed? The only way I could find to Start the downloads I'd got in the queue was to use the Schedule Start.

This is how the UI looks, now with no Start button... Screenshot 2023-04-02 at 16 28 57

Have you tried right-clicking in the area they should be to get a menu up for choosing layout of buttons?

Necktilt commented 1 year ago

Ha! I had no idea that (a) the buttons could disappear of their own free will, or (b) right-clicking would enable me to restore. Is this kind of info available somewhere (and clearly somewhere I don't know about)? Anyway, thanks very much Solosair, and all good now.

I think it works for choosing the layout of buttons on safari browser with adding spacings etc. so it's a general thing I think.

🙂 Pleased to be of help.

Necktilt commented 1 year ago

OK, but this was in the standalone g-i-a app, not Safari. But anyway, as I say, all good. And now I know the next time the buttons disappear...

SOLOSAIR commented 1 year ago

I understand that but was just pointing out that it works for other mac apps too.

I had one of my buttons - refresh - disappear with no way of getting it back on a recent update, so Scott kindly put the right-click option back again for us. I have absolutely no idea why yours disappeared.

Ah, I see. In fact, come to think of it, I had just updated MacOS to 13.3, so presumably the same cause of lost buttons—somehow. Good that Scott's fabulous right-click saved us.

Leaving this open because I just realized this really isn't right. Toolbar buttons are a convenience and shouldn't be a replacement for menu items.
