Ascoware / get-iplayer-automator

The goal of Get iPlayer Automator is to allow iTunes and your Mac to become the hub for your British Television experience regardless of where in the world you are. Programmes are fully tagged and added to iTunes automatically upon completion. It is simple and easy to use, and runs on any machine running Mac OS X 10.7 or later. This issue tracker is not a discussion forum, so don't use it as such. If you wish to discuss the BBC, iPlayer or anything else that is not related to an actual problem with the current release of GiA, post in an appropriate forum, not in this issue tracker.

STOP! DO NOT submit a ticket if you are reporting that you are unable to download a program from outside the UK.

If you need an explanation, read this. If you ignore this instruction, your ticket will be closed with no further action. You can fib about your location if you like, but you will only be wasting your time. If you are using GiA within the UK, continue with the instructions below.

Before creating a new ticket, search the current open and closed tickets to see if your issue has already been reported. Use the search box at the top of the page to do so. You can also use the links below to view open and closed tickets in list form.

If you create a ticket for an issue that has already been reported, your ticket will be closed with no further action. If you are certain your issue has not yet been reported, continue with the instructions below.

Create a succinct title describing your issue in the Title field above, then provide the information requested below. If you do not provide the requested information, your ticket will be closed with no further action.

If you cannot download a program, provide a verbose log of the attempt. See Verbose Log in wiki for instructions on posting a verbose log for your ticket. Your verbose log should show the results from downloading ONLY ONE program. DO NOT post a massive log covering multiple multiple program downloads. IMPORTANT: DO NOT paste your verbose log into your issue report. If you do, expect it to be deleted.

If GiA crashes, provide the OS X crash log by copying the information from Crash Reporter into a file or locating the crash log in $HOME/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. See Verbose Log in wiki for instructions on posting a crash log for your ticket. IMPORTANT: DO NOT paste your crash log into your issue report. If you do, expect it to be deleted.

Delete the instructions above before submitting your ticket.

I tried to add to the download list several programs using the 'Use current webpage' method. The programmes were not added to the list.

I expected the programs to be added to the list. Nothing was added. I am not using a web proxy, a DNS proxy, a VPN, or a VPS.

I tried to add to the download list Robson Green's Weekend Escapes series 1 Episode 14 by holding down the command key and pressing 'G' (a method that previously worked on macOS 12.7) I also tried pressing the 'Use Current Webpage' button on the screen. The programme was not added to the list.

I tried several other programmes both in the same series then other programmes, None worked. I can search and find programs and they download perfectly.

I did a completely new install of macOS 13. 5 yesterday and did not use migration assistant to move my previous settings programs or data from Monterey macOS 12.7. I installed Get iPlayer Automaton as a fresh install and manually copied the contents of the username/library/application support/get player folder to the Ventura 13.5 OS and set up the preferences/setting the same as I had previously.

Same happening on one of my systems here. Was previously working fine - but then seemed to suddenly stop working with 'Use current webpage'.

Am running macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 and have tried with Safari 14.1.3 and Chrome 116.0.xyz as the 'linked' browser - same problem with both. Have tried with GiA 1.24.1, 1.24.2, 1.25.1, 1.25.4 - all suffering the same problem.

Have checked that GiA has been allowed access in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Accessibility, and Automation.

However, on my macOS 13.5.1 / Safari 16.6 / GiA 1.25.1 system, all works as expected!

I'm suddenly getting the same. A show on the iPlayer doesn't come up in the search on the app, but when I open the page on iPlayer and click "Use Current Webpage" using Safari, I get an error claiming the frontmost page isn't an iPlayer programme page, which it is. When I switch to using Edge or Chrome and give the app the appropriate permissions, it fails silently with no error message.

Strangely, when I looked in the automation preferences, it seems that Get iPlayer Automator has permissions for Safari Technology Preview but not for the normal Safari. There is no option to choose this as a default browser in Get iPlayer Automator so I don't know how this will have happened, and there doesn't seem to be a way to manually add permissions for Safari. But at least I can now download from a web page if I open it in STP—although it would be nice to have a way to add to the PVR from a web page.
