hi will there be a beta release of this soon? would like to try it out

Progress is tracked in this issue. Because this entire program is made for free, in our available time, there are no guarantees as to when it will be done.

Thank you for showing interest! I'll keep doing my best to work toward the Beta.

by any chance got a contrib guide? or a discord? was considering helping out.

AsherGlick commented 4 months ago

@jmerritt We dont have a contributors guide yet. As of this moment https://discord.com/channels/384735285197537290/876226509440942091 is the discord channel (as a part of the https://discord.gg/zqeHCEg server)

Once this PR gets merged I think there will be a lot of opportunity for external contributors adding support for various marker attributes. Unfortunately the size of this PR makes contributing elsewhere quite difficult right now so my main goal is getting this merged, and the things that still need to be done in this PR probably are not a good fit for contributors right now.

Great progress! In the meantime if anyone needs a full list of the converted TacO files (as listed in the TacO repo downloads json) I've got them here:

https://github.com/stevenlafl/taco2burrito/releases/tag/067.3705r

It seems like some of these packs are missing trail files or don't specify pngs for certain markers/trails so I put a default one. I wonder what your solution for this case is.

Thanks for the hard work. This project helps a lot with completely switching to Linux.
