The Problem:
The Metalmark's Carapace Adaptation trait reads "When the Metalmark is in soft cover, ranged attackers receive +2 DIFFICULTY instead of +1 DIFFICULTY." This wording is different from that of the PRv2 in that it suggests the Metalmark has to actually be in some sort of zone or area granting soft cover to receive this bonus instead of simply having soft cover from sources such as Combined Arms or the Skirmisher talent. Notably, in the PRv2, the trait read "Soft cover grants +2 difficulty on ranged attacks made against the Metalmark instead of +1 difficulty," the wording of which was more open-ended regarding the acquisition of soft cover.
Carapace Adaptation is intended to work even with things that do not count as being in areas of cover, such as the Skirmisher talent, the Combined Arms talent, or a charging D/D 288.
The Solution:
I would recommend a slight wording adjustment to the trait along the lines of "When the Metalmark has soft cover, ranged attackers receive +2 DIFFICULTY instead of +1 DIFFICULTY."
