New MHW update

It seems like Capcom released the update solely to break mods. I'd wager ICE itself is fine, but Strackers Loader and PB&PE need to be updated.

You can use the previous version of the MHW .exe and it'll boot and run as normal. You can grab the old exe from Steam with DepotDownloader if you do not wish to wait.

There are great instructions in the #tech-support channel in the ICE Discord on how to downgrade the install. Very simple and painless.

This is the text from the tech-support channel:

IF YOU PLAYED THE NEW UPDATE (without ICE) AND THEN DOWNPATCH IT WILL ASK TO DELETE YOUR SAVE. BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILES. (steam/userdata/youruserID#/582010/remote)

If you are looking to install ICE fresh please do not follow this guide and wait for the ICE update. You will need to do a whole lot more troubleshooting and downpatching of other items. This is for those who were already playing ICE on a good install and were bumped off of ICE by the update.

If the update has finished and locked you out of MHW ICE, the following will allow you to downgrade. Make sure your steam library has room for the extra 55gb.

Open Steam Open the Run Dialogue with Windows Key + R Input the following and hit enter:

steam://open/console

In steam to the right of your name a new tab will have appeared named CONSOLE. Open it. At the bottom just above "add a game" there's a text box. Input the following and hit enter:

download_depot 582010 582011 3388885539667572621

Steam will begin downloading the entirety of the latest patch. It will not give any progress updates. Just be patient it takes approximately 30m-1hr+ depending on your internet speed. Once finished it will have downloaded the files to steamapps/content/app_582010/depot_582011

Cleanup Navigate to steamapps/common/monster hunter world/chunk Delete chunkG11.bin

Navigate to steamapps/common/monster hunter world/ICE/chunk Delete cG11.bin (symlink) If you see cHiPC chunks OTHER than cHiPCG0 and cHiPCG63, delete those symlinks too. reiterating that you keep cHiPCG0 and cHiPCG63, all other 'cHiPCGX' symlinks need to be removed If this doesn't exist (haven't tried to run ICE since the update happened) then ignore this.

Open to the Depot location the game was redownloaded to in addition to your MHW folder Copy over and replace the following files from the depot into the MHW folder (remember to right-click drag and copy to keep your newly downloaded backup copy intact): monsterhunterworld.exe steam_api64.dll chunk/chunkG60.bin Game should function as it did before.

Feel free to delete the depot folder if you don't need it anymore, but personally I would keep it around. It's a full and complete backup of the version of the game that works with ICE.

_If you downpatched from the most recent update there should be no need to mess with the the appmanifest file, if you've set it to read-only, go ahead and uncheck it (steamapps/appmanifest582010.acf -> right click -> properties -> uncheck read-only)
